    The good news is that most cooking mistakes are fixable with a bit of know-how and creativity.

    In this guide, we'll explore some common cooking blunders and simple yet effective solutions to rescue your dishes and turn them into culinary success.

    Salty

    Over-salting

    If you end up with an overly salty dish, restore balance by incorporating additional liquid. Adjust other liquids based on what's already in the dish; for instance, add more milk to a creamy sauce.

    A small amount of lemon or lime juice effectively balances saltiness.

    Adding raw potatoes to absorb excess salt is a last resort suggestion, especially if potatoes are in the recipe.

    Spicy

    Too spicy

    Adjusting spice levels in group cooking or fixing an accidental spice overflow, especially with capsaicin from chili peppers, can be challenging.

    You can combat this heat by pairing spicy elements with neutral foods like rice, pasta, or bread.

    Adding dairy, such as milk or yogurt, with its casein protein, can help attract and remove capsaicin molecules. Additionaly, coconut milk can also be helpful.

    Sweet

    Excessive sweetness

    Lemon or lime juice can effectively balance excessive sweetness on a plate, but not all citrus fruits have the same impact.

    Beware that adding orange juice might exacerbate the issue due to its inherent sweetness.

    While kale provides bitterness, using a substantial amount is necessary. Another option is unsweetened cocoa powder, but be cautious to avoid an unexpectedly chocolatey flavor if overused.

    Sour overload

    A dash of baking soda, with its alkaline properties, can neutralize acidity. Yet, proceed with caution as excessive use may lead to an undesirable soapy taste and texture alteration.

    Alternatively, when facing an overly sour flavor, a sprinkle of sugar serves as a sweet rescue. Dairy products like cream, milk, or yogurt can help mellow out sourness.

    Consider adding a small amount.
