Signs you are eating too many cashews

    What's the story

Cashews are among the irresistible nuts that often lure people to indulge beyond moderation, stopping only after a handful.

However, this temptation for quantity can lead to unintended consequences. Packed with fats and calories, experts caution against overindulgence, warning of potential repercussions.

If you have been experiencing these signs lately, it could indicate you've been eating more than your body needs.

    Sign 1

    Sudden weight gain

As aforementioned, cashews are abundant with fats and calories, which can add a few pounds to your weight if you consume them more than you should.

A 28-gram serving of cashew nuts contains 157 calories, which can lead to weight gain if you are not physically active.

Experts suggest consuming five to 10 cashews daily, ideally.

    Sign 2

    Frequent headaches

Another side effect of overconsumption of cashews is frequent headaches and this holds for all other nuts as well.

Per studies, nuts of any variety can trigger migraine and cluster headaches in people. And when you overconsume them, you may suffer from throbbing headaches more frequently.

This is because they are high in sodium and excess of it can constrict the brain's blood vessels.

    Sign 3

    Bloating

Since their fat content is too high (64 gm fat per 100 gm serving), eating too many cashews per day can result in bloating.

Additionally, these nuts are also packed with FODMAPs, a kind of fermentable carbs that can be tough for some people to digest.

You may experience a heavy, inflated tummy with a feeling of fullness and tightness owing to gas formation.

    Sign 4

    Diarrhea

Studies have found that excess consumption of cashews can also lead to diarrhea.

This is largely because of the high fat content which can be quite heavy for the body to digest.

The case is especially true for those dealing with nut or cashew allergies and need to take frequent trips to the washroom after savoring a handful of nuts.
