    What's the story

Had enough of the common tourist destinations and desire the calmness of villages? Look no further, because we have curated a list of the most serene and stunning villages across India.

Immerse yourself in the peaceful ambiance of these lesser-known gems while engaging in enriching cultural experiences.

Away from the hustle and bustle of urban life, you will find solace in these breathtaking landscapes.

    Coastal life

    Poovar, Kerala

Poovar is a charming village near Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, situated around 12 kilometers away.

Flowing through this picturesque village, the Neyyar River adds to its beauty. This village provides an authentic taste of living by the riverside in a coastal settlement.

The village's natural charm and cultural authenticity have been steadily gaining recognition, turning it into an increasingly popular destination.

    Nature's rhythm

    Mawlynnong, Meghalaya

Mawlynnong, located just 90 km from Shillong in Meghalaya, has gained recognition as one of Asia's cleanest villages.

This village is also home to the renowned Nohwet Living Root Bridge, a remarkable structure formed by weaving Ficus Elastica tree roots around a framework over generations.

The river water here is so pure that it is nearly transparent, allowing for clear views of underwater life.

    History

    Khimsar, Rajasthan

Located on the edge of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan, Khimsar offers a blend of history, culture and rural charm.

The desert's golden expanse stretches as far as one can see.

Known for its forts, palaces, temples, and desert landscape, the village sits between Jodhpur and Bikaner.

Once a reigning royal dynasty of Rajputana, the air is still infused with tales of the past.

    Monastery

    Diskit, Ladakh

Diskit Village, situated along the Shok River, serves as the administrative hub of Ladakh's Nubra Valley.

The town offers panoramic vistas of the valley and features the renowned Diskit Gompa, an ancient Buddhist Monastery established in the 14th century.

This monastery houses an impressive 32-meter-tall Maitreya Buddha statue.

Positioned at 3142 meters above sea level, the monastery is a must-visit attraction in Diskit.

    Art & craft

    Pipili, Odisha

Pipili, a charming village close to Bhubaneswar, is renowned for its exquisite handicrafts.

The crafts adorn a variety of items like handbags, umbrellas, shoes, clothing, and decorative pieces.

Skilled artisans create designs of flowers, birds, animals, and more on fabrics, adding glass embellishments for extra appeal.

These one-of-a-kind creations serve as cherished souvenirs for tourists, capturing the village's colorful spirit.
