    What's the story

"Funyaasi" duo Shubham Singh and Dhruv Bisht are hands down one of the most entertaining content creator duos we have today.

Their content oozes talent (and hilarity!) in volumes, making them a source of daily smiles and laughter for millions across social media platforms.

In an exclusive interaction with NewsBytes, the creators spilled the beans on their joy of content creation and future plans.

How did you both venture into content creation?

"Both Dhruv and I were pursuing engineering. However, we didn't want to become engineers. I was into dramatics and wanted to take it forward." shared Singh.

Bisht adds, "In the first year itself I realized engineering wasn't my thing. I enjoyed editing."

When the two were introduced by a common friend, they knew it was a match made in heaven in the content space!

    Information

It was Dhruv's idea to become content creators: Singh

"Although I was into acting, I wasn't aware of YouTube. Dhruv knew about it since he used to watch Lily Singh's videos." shared Singh. "I was an introvert and feared facing the camera. But I wanted to do something like that very seriously," added Bisht.

'Our characters are inspired by real people and stereotypes'

On asking how they plan their onscreen characters like "Sapolika" and "Prem," Singh shares, "We don't watch daily soaps but our television-inspired characters rock because of the stereotypes that exist around an ideal husband and vamp."

"We also have a few 'Sapolikas' in our life. We'd be lying if we say that we aren't inspired by people in our own lives," shares Bisht candidly.

    Information

'We both are heroes, heroines, villains. We play all sides'

Bisht says 'Prerna' suits Singh the most. "That's a talent of his that I don't have," he adds. Singh is all praises for Bisht playing the evil "Sapolika" and the "adorably dumb" husband "Prem." "But we take turns to play each character," they conclude.

Since you're a team, do you have clashes and disagreements?

Singh says, "We both are opinionated and there are instances where we disagree with each other. However, we are a team first and decide things together," shares Singh.

"During the earlier stages, we used to involve a friend to find out who was right between the two of us, haha! But now our understanding with each other is at par," clarifies Bisht.

    What's your content's societal goal?

The duo, who are grateful for the overwhelming response from their fans and followers, say that even if their content offers a tiny smile to someone, they feel they are driving a positive change in society.

"We once received a DM from a girl who met her long-lost twin sister in our comments section! We were so thrilled to know that," mentioned Bisht.

'We have been lucky with no trolling or negativity'

When one steps into a public domain like content creation, trolls are an inevitable part of their journey. However, for the brilliant "Funyaasi" guys, it has rather been a cakewalk.

"If you see our page, there's no negativity. And that's because our content doesn't offend. We have been lucky to have no trolls but millions of well-wishers supporting us daily," said the duo.

    Information

Wondering what 'Funyaasi' means? The duo shared with us!

"Funyaasi" is an amalgamation of "fun" and "sanyaasi" (a hermit or someone who takes a renunciation). "We took a "sanyaas" from our engineering career to pursue our passion. Anyone who picks their passion over profession is a 'Funyaasi' for us," explained the brilliant creators.

Singh and Bisht share tips for budding content creators

The "Funyaasi" duo share that consistency and having self-faith are very important.

"You should have the passion to do it and constantly evolve yourself if you want to make a difference. Don't look at numbers and money," suggests Bisht.

"Honestly, we have had sleepless nights and long shooting hours to make a single 30-45 seconds reel. Don't give up, things will work," enlightens Singh.
