Here is a step-by-step guide to creating a DIY rose.
Material
Material you need
You will need colored craft papers. Remember to choose bold red, pink, and green hues.
Also arrange for thin, flexible wire to construct robust stems.
To create a natural effect, get a green flowery tape to wrap around the floral wire.
Optional ornamental elements to improve the bouquet include ribbons, leaves, etc.
You also require a glue gun/sticky glue and a pair of scissors.
Step 1
Cutting the petals
Trace and cut petal shapes of varying sizes from the colored craft paper.
Use a pencil or dowel to gently curl the edges of each petal.
Make sure to use a pair of sharp scissors for a finished cut.
For each layer of the flower, you would need five pink petals. You may also add a green sepal to the outermost layer.
Step 2
Building the rose
Using adhesive, firmly roll a small piece of craft paper to form the rosebud.
Add more petals one by one, slightly overlapping and securing with tape as you go.
Continue adding petals, adjusting their placement for a realistic bloom shape.
Remember to start with smaller petal and gradually attach larger-sized petals around the rosebud, securing each with glue.
Step 3
Shaping and refining
Cut a small piece of color paper and roll it into a tight coil for the center.
Glue the coiled center into the heart of the rose.
Work with the petals gently so that the rose appears open and natural.
Gather petals more tightly at the base to create the rosebud shape.
Use tape to secure the base of the petals, forming the bud.
Step 4
Making the stem
For the strength of your rose and a green appearance, cut the floral wire to the required stem length and wrap it with green floral tape.
To provide a tight hold, attach the constructed roses to the prepared stems using floral tape or adhesive.
Add leaves by cutting leaf shapes from green crepe paper and attaching them to the stem with floral tape.
