    5 vrat dishes to break your fast on Maha Shivratri

    With the auspicious day of Maha Shivratri being celebrated on March 1 this year, we bring to you some delicious yet healthy recipes to break your fast.

    These dishes will rehydrate your body and help you to regain energy after the fast.

    They are also nutritious, healthy, and wholesome and will prevent the possibility of an upset tummy.

    Singhare ki kadhi

    This vrat ki kadhi is the perfect dish to consume after your Maha Shivratri fast.

    Whisk together singhare ka atta, yogurt, rock salt, sugar, and red chili powder. Add water and mix well.

    Simmer the mixture for five-eight minutes. Heat oil in a separate pan, add cumin seeds, dried red chili, curry leaves, and fry well.

    Add this tempering to the simmering curry. Enjoy!

    Kuttu paratha

    Made with buckwheat flour, this nutty-flavored kuttu paratha recipe is gluten-free and completely vegan which makes it perfect for your fasting days.

    Mix kuttu flour with rock salt and mashed potatoes. Add some water and knead well. Make smooth balls, flatten them and start rolling them into round-shaped parathas.

    Cook the parathas in ghee on both sides until light brown. Serve hot with yogurt.

    Sabudana khichdi

    Sabudana khichdi is a well-known fasting dish that is extremely nutritious and wholesome.

    Soak sabudana pearls in water for three-four hours. Heat some oil, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chilies and saute well.

    Add cubed potatoes, rock salt, and cook well. Then, add crushed peanuts, coconut, and soaked-drained sabudana and combine everything well.

    Toss the sabudana with sugar, cilantro, lime juice and enjoy.

    Aloo ki sabzi

    This aloo ki sabzi recipe is simple yet flavorful and can be enjoyed with some kuttu paratha.

    Heat some ghee, add cumin seeds, chopped green chilies and saute well. Add cubed potatoes, peanuts, red chili powder, rock salt, and mix well. Then add water and mix again.

    Pressure cook for some time. Add some lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves before serving.

    Kaddu ki sabzi

    Packed with the goodness of pumpkin and flavored with aromatic spices, this kaddu ki sabzi recipe is ideal for your fasting days.

    Heat some oil, add cumin seeds, dry red chilies and fry well. Then, add chopped pumpkin cubes, sugar and mix well.

    Add water, rock salt, and pressure cook for seven-eight minutes.

    Mash the cooked pumpkin, garnish with some coriander leaves, and enjoy.
