    What's the story

Sanjeev Jain, the CEO and Managing Director of Parsvnath Developers, was apprehended by Delhi Police at Indira Gandhi International Airport following a 60-kilometer chase on Saturday.

The pursuit began when Jain attempted to evade capture at his residence in Gurugram.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Surendra Choudhary confirmed the arrest, stating that non-bailable warrants had been issued against Jain for failing to appear before the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

    Case background

Arrest linked to consumer complaint case

The arrest of Jain is tied to a consumer complaint case filed by Rajat Babbar in 2017.

There were four non-bailable and one bailable warrant pending against Jain at the Shahdara police station, all issued by the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

The most recent non-bailable warrant was issued on July 18, 2024, due to Jain's continued failure to appear before the commission, reports said.

    Professional profile

    Jain's association with Parsvnath Developers

Jain has been a key figure at Parsvnath Developers Private Limited for 32 years.

The company, established in 1984, operates in 37 cities across 13 states in India.

A resident of DLF Phase 2, Gurugram, Jain holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Bharti Vidyapeeth, Pune and completed his schooling at Jain Khekra Inter College in Uttar Pradesh.

Following his arrest, he was presented before the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on Sunday.
