    Two terrorists killed in Anantnag, three neutralized in 24 hours

    Security forces neutralized two terrorists in an encounter at Larno area of Kokernag in Anantnag, Kashmir.

    Three terrorists have been eliminated in the Valley in 24 hours. Earlier, one was killed in Budgam district.

    The latest phase of Operation All Out had been launched as a cordon and search operation, which turned into an encounter when the terrorists opened fire.

    Forces retaliated when terrorists opened fire

    According to J&K police, a joint team of army, CRPF and police launched a search operation in the forest area of Pahlipora Larnoo Kokernag based on a tipoff about presence of terrorists.

    When the terrorists opened fire, the forces retaliated and killed two.

    One has been identified as Mohammad Farhan Wani of Hizbul Mujhadeen, the army said.

    The second is yet to be identified.

    206 terrorists killed last year, 2018 likely to be calmer

    Last year, forces had killed over 206 terrorists, the highest since 2010, when 270 were killed.

    2016 also saw 117 local youths joining militancy, the highest in seven years.

    DGP SP Vaid had earlier said 2018 is likely to be less intense as the situation in the Valley was limping back to normalcy.

    Operation All-Out would continue till there was complete peace, he said.
