Cattle market in Telangana goes online

    What's the story

The cattle market in Telangana has gone online. On June 12, the state government launched a website for farmers to buy and sell cows, buffaloes and more.

The portal, www.pashubazar.telangana.gov.in, will help farmers in saving transportation costs to and from the retail market.

Recent rules notified by the Centre on the sale of cattle will be applicable on the website too.

    Why Pashu Bazar?

"Taking animals physically to markets involves expenditure on travel, care of animal and day-long loss of wages. If animal couldn't be sold, it has to again travel back home. This platform will eliminate that and create publicity so farmer gets better price," a message reads.

    FAQ

    Guidelines for using the platform

At any point of time, one can register a maximum of five animals for sale. If they want to add another, one of the previous ones has to be removed.

Registrations are valid for 30 days and will be automatically cancelled after that.

Apart from cows, buffaloes and bullock, farmers can also sell dogs, goats and sheep.

A mobile app is also available.
