Native of 'Indian-occupied-Kashmir' seeks help. Sushma Swaraj gives it back

    What's the story

Sushma Swaraj is one of the most responsive foreign ministers India has had, and several people reach out for help on social media every day.

Sheikh Ateeq, a native of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) staying in Philippines, did the same when he had an issue with his passport.

But it backfired when Swaraj noticed his bio had "Indian-occupied Kashmir" as his location.

The tweet that got Swaraj's attention

Ateeq tweeted Swaraj on April 5. "I am from J&K doing medicine course here in Philippines my passport got damaged I applied for new one 1 month ago I request u pls help me to get it as i literally need to go home for medical checkup," he wrote.

This morning, Swaraj assured help, but pointed out "there is no place like (Indian-occupied Kashmir)."

Swaraj's response got claps from Twitterati

If you are from JK state, we will definitely help you. But your profile says you are from 'Indian occupied Kashmir'. There is no place like that. @indembmanila https://t.co/Srzo7tfMSx

Ateeq was quick to update his profile

Ateeq presumably responded soon after, changing his Twitter bio to "jammu & kashmir/manila." Swaraj was quick to acknowledge it too.

"I am happy you have corrected the profile. Jaideep - He is an Indian national from J&K. Pls help him," she tweeted.

Both of Swaraj's tweets have been shared over 5,000 times and liked 10,000 times.

Meanwhile, Ateeq's profile has been deleted.

    Twitterati took notice and cheered
