    What's the story

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan found himself stuck in a large pothole on Monday as he was on his way to Baharagora, Jharkhand.

Visuals shared online showed the senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader's car stuck in a muddy crevice as security personnel escorted him out of the SUV in the rain.

Chouhan was on his way to campaign for the BJP in Jharkhand, which will go to the polls this year.

Chouhan pledged to protect 'roti, beti, and mati'

In one of his rallies in the Kolhan division, Chouhan pledged to protect the "roti, beti, and mati" (bread, daughters, and land) of Jharkhand.

"I promise on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party that we will protect Jharkhand's land, daughters and bread," he said.

His response came after several women, who attendeed the rally, presented Chouhan with packets of soil from Jharkhand.

They expressed their concerns about the safety of "roti, beti, and mati" under the current government.

    Criticism and promise

Chouhan criticizes current government, promises NCR

Chouhan also criticized the incumbent Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government for allegedly allowing Bangladeshi infiltration into the state.

He claimed that this infiltration was threatening jobs and livelihoods.

To address this issue, he promised that a BJP government would implement a National Citizen Register (NCR).

"Only the BJP government can ensure the safety of Jharkhand's soil, daughters and bread," he said.

    Intrusion prevention

Chouhan's NCR promise aims to curb foreign intrusion

He stated that this measure would prevent any foreign intruders from obtaining an Aadhaar card or having their name added to the voter list.

"People of Jharkhand, I am here today to tell you that we will create a National Citizen Register so no foreign intruder can obtain an Aadhaar card or have their name added to the voter list," he said.
