    What's the story

Four months after seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur's murder sparked a nationwide debate on safety of children in schools, a similar incident has been reported from Lucknow.

Seven-year-old Hrithik Sharma of Brightland Inter College School in Triveninagar was stabbed, allegedly by a Class 6 senior. Thankfully, he survived.

He said she had done it to get the school closed early.

    The principal was arrested today.

Girl tied him with a dupatta, then stabbed him

The incident happened on Tuesday. While Hrithik was going to the morning assembly, a "didi" called him, saying a teacher wanted to see him.

She took him to a washroom, tied him with a dupatta and began stabbing him, Firstpost reported. Then she locked him inside.

A teacher passing by heard his cries and found him with his mouth stuffed with a cloth.

    Information

School didn't inform police, media or the victim's parents

Incidentally, the school didn't alert authorities or even his parents about the crime. They told the family that Hrithik had had an accident. The incident came to light when authorities at King George's Medical University (KGMU) trauma center, where he's admitted, told the media.

Principal arrested, alleged attacker being questioned

Police are now examining footage from the 70 security cameras in the school.

The purported murder weapon, a vegetable knife, has been recovered. The girl's hair found on his body has been sent for forensics.

A notice has been issued to the school for not informing police. The principal has been arrested.

The girl, whom the victim identified in a photo, is being questioned.
