    Exploring special tableaus for Republic Day 2024

    What's the story

    The 75th Republic Day Parade promises to be a celebration of women's contributions and the democratic spirit of India as the Kartavya Path is set to showcase "women empowerment" through vibrant tableaus, centering around women under the theme "Viksit Bharat" and "Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka."

    Let us explore various tableaus representing 16 states and UTs having specific themes.

    Madhya pradesh

    Women centric tableau

    Emphasizing women's active roles across diverse sectors, including the modern service industry, small-scale enterprises, and traditional domains, a tableau will feature Avani Chaturvedi, Madhya Pradesh's pioneering woman fighter pilot, alongside a model fighter plane.

    Additionally, the tableau will showcase women artists painting on pots, the iconic Badal Mahal gate of Chanderi, and the skilled weavers behind globally acclaimed Chanderi, Maheshwar, and Bagh print sarees.

    Artificial intelligence focus

    The Ministry of Electronics and Information's tableau, featuring in this year's Republic Day Parade, will spotlight the application and impact of artificial intelligence (AI) across diverse sectors and industries, emphasizing its potential benefits for the public.

    As stated by the ministry's director, J.L. Gupta, the use of artificial intelligence can be very useful for the health sector and has been highlighted in the tableau.

    Jammu and kashmir

    Jumbo zoo, papier-mache etc

    Jammu and Kashmir's tableau will focus on the Jambu Zoo, the first full-fledged zoo named after Raja Jambu Lochan, the founder of Jammu.

    The tableau will also feature women engaged in the renowned papier-mache art, highlighting the global fame of this craft.

    Among other highlights include, renovated Ghanta Ghar at Lal Chowk and Uming la Road, the highest road in the world recently inauguarated.

    Manipur

    Charkha

    The Republic Day tableau from Manipur will highlight the pivotal roles played by women in socio-economic activities.

    It will showcase women engaged in delicate fiber work from lotus stems, utilizing traditional charkhas to create yarns.

    At the forefront, the tableau will feature a woman gathering lotus stems from Loktak lake, with scenes of women riding boats and collecting lotus stems on the sides.

    Rajasthan

    Ghoomer, Meera Bai

    The Republic Day tableau from Rajasthan will highlight the progress in women's handicraft industries and the vibrant festive culture of the state.

    Focused on showcasing the renowned Ghoomar dance, the tableau will include a mannequin of a dancer and a statue of Meera Bai, symbolizing devotion and strength.

    Moreover, the display will focus on Rajasthan's diverse handicraft traditions, encompassing bandhej and bagru print.

    Haryana

    Digital India

    Haryana tableau, selected three years in a row in the last five years, will display the ancient city Rakhigarhi, the states overall industrial and agricultural development.

    It will spotlight women's empowerment in the state through the government initiative "Mera Parivar - Meri Pehchan."

    With the haryanvi women holding digital devices, the tableau symbolizes the influence of the Digital India initiative.

    Gujarat

    Dhordo

    Gujarat's tableau highlights "Dhordo: Global identity of Gujarat's border tourism."

    Dhordo has earned recognition on the 'best tourism villages 2023' list by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

    It highlights the Bhunga' houses of Dhordo, acknowledged by UNWTO, along with local handicrafts, Rogan art, the lively 'Rann Utsav,' the iconic tent city, and 'Garba,' recognized as Gujarat's 'Intangible Cultural Heritage' by UNESCO.

    Saree

    Textile installation with almost 2,000 sarees

    The Ministry of Culture will exhibit the "Anant Sutra - The Endless Thread" textile installation at Kartavya Path.

    Positioned behind spectators in the enclosures, it pays homage to the saree, showcasing 1,900 from all corners of India.

    Joint Secretary Amita Prasad Sarbhai calls it a visual delight along Kartavya Path's seating area.

    Equipped with QR codes, provide details on weaving and embroidery arts.
