Notable Indian scientist, academician Yash Pal dies at 90
What's the story
Just a day after eminent scientist UR Rao passed away, another renowned scientist Yash Pal, who was popular for explaining scientific concepts in layman's language, died this Tuesday.
Pal was 90. He passed away at the Max Hospital in Noida today morning.
The cause of his death cannot be ascertained yet although it was reported that he recovered from cancer a few years ago.

Yash Pal became a household name during 80s
The renowned scientist who was honoured with Padma Vibhushan, got acclaimed after he featured in a popular science series, Turning Point, on Doordarshan in the 80s.
Pal became an instant hit for explaining scientific concepts in common man's language.
In 2009, UNESCO honoured him with the Kalinga Prize for popularization of science.

From NAC's chairman to JNU's Chancellor: Man of many talents
Yash Pal became the first Director of Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad, in 1973.
In 1993, he became the chairman of National Advisory Committee set up by the MHRD to study the issue of overburdening of school children.
He was also the Chancellor of JNU from March 2007 to March 2012.
In 2011, he was also awarded the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award.
