    What's the story

Just as the government is pushing to celebrate the second anniversary of surgical strikes, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has hinted 'something big happened' across the border.

Speaking at Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarpur on Friday, Singh said he would not reveal details of action but promised something huge happened earlier this week, and it would continue.

"You'll also see what happens in future," he said.

    The killing

Backstory: Few days ago, BSF soldier was brutally killed

Singh hinted at an attack on Pakistani troops to avenge the killing of a BSF soldier.

The soldier lost his life when he had gone to cut grass along the IB fence in Ramgarh sector. He became a victim of unprovoked firing from Pakistan.

His body, which had three bullet wounds in the chest, was recovered a day later. His throat was slit too.

    Do you know?

Army Chief Bipin Rawat spoke about getting back at Pakistan

After the horrendous killing, an alert was sounded across the International Border and LoC. Later, Army Chief Bipin Rawat said it was time to reply to Pakistan in its language. Till July 2018, there have been 942 ceasefire violations across LoC and 140 infiltration attempts.

    Singh's statements

Don't fire first bullet, but don't hold back either: Rajnath

In Uttar Pradesh, Singh said he has asked BSF to not fire the first bullet.

"Don't fire the first bullet, as they are our neighbors. But if they fire the first one, don't count the number of bullets you fire back," Singh said.

Notably, BJP on Friday posted fresh videos of the surgical strike of 2016 which destabilized terror pads in Pakistan.
