    What's the story

Thankful for a trim he got from a barber in Raebareli during the Lok Sabha election campaign, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has sent gifts to the barber.

The gifts to Mithun Kumar included two barber chairs, a shampoo chair and an inverter battery.

In a video, Kumar expressed his joy and surprise upon receiving the salon equipment from Gandhi, saying, "I had not expected any such gift from the Congress leader."

Since Gandhi's visit to his shop, Kumar said his business has seen significant growth.

A customer at the salon mentioned that Gandhi had also supported a cobbler in Sultanpur by gifting him a modern shoe stitching machine, adding, "We are proud that Rahul Gandhi is our MP."

Gandhi and his convoy had made an unexpected stop at Kumar's New Mumba Devi Hair Cutting Salon in Brajendra Nagar on May 13.

Gandhi's unexpected salon visit during election campaign

The Congress leader was returning after addressing a rally at Baiswara Inter College in Lalganj, Raebareli.

During his visit, Gandhi not only got his beard trimmed but also sought ideas from Kumar on improving his business and addressing youth unemployment.

Before this incident, he had also made a stop at a cobbler's shop when he was returning to Lucknow after appearing before a court in a defamation case in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur.

Later, Gandhi sent a shoe-stitching machine to the cobbler and was given instructions on how to use the machine from a few team professionals.

According to media reports, the elated Chait Ram sent back Gandhi two pairs of shoes as a token of appreciation.

Ram has been making footwear for over 40 years from his makeshift shop.
