    What's the story

On Saturday morning, witnesses in Pehlu Khan's lynching in Alwar in April 2017, including his sons, have been allegedly fired upon while they were on their way to Behror to depose Khan's lynching.

"I was in the car with witnesses Azmat and Rafiq and Pehlu's sons Irshad and Arif, when a Scorpio without a number plate tried to stop us," said lawyer Asad Hayat.

    The incident

    What actually happened?

"The vehicle came near and the men inside asked us to stop. Since their vehicle didn't have a number plate, we didn't stop. Then their vehicle overtook us and fired upon us," said Irshad, Pehlu's son.

Asad said that they took a U-turn to avoid the SUV.

"We are taking another route through the villages to reach Alwar and meet the SP," Hayat added.

No faith in Behror police; they released all accused: Witnesses

"We don't have faith in Behror police because they gave a clean chit to the six accused named in the FIR. So we're approaching the SP directly," said the witnesses, who were coming from Nuh, Haryana.

Meanwhile, the Alwar SP Rajendra Singh denied any information of the witnesses approaching him and said he will take required action if and when they approach him.

Backstory: About the Pehlu Khan lynching case

Pehlu Khan, along with sons Irshad and Arif and two other people, Azmat and Rafiq, was on his way to Haryana after purchasing cattle in Rajasthan in a pick-up truck on April 1 last year when they were attacked by 'gau rakshaks' in Alwar.

Pehlu Khan, a 55-year-old dairy farmer, succumbed to his injuries two days later.

No arrests have been made so far.
