    What's the story

The Rashtrapati Bhavan has announced a new format for the weekly change of guard ceremony, which will make its debut on February 22.

The revamped event will include dynamic visual and musical performances against the backdrop of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Formal military drills by the President's Bodyguard and Ceremonial Guard Battalion, with a Ceremonial Military Brass Band, will also be part of this spectacle.

The change of guard ceremony is an age-old military tradition that enables a new batch of the President's Bodyguards to take charge every week.

The President's Bodyguard, which was formed in 1773, is the senior-most regiment of the Indian Army and carries out ceremonial duties for the president.

Its men are trained horsemen, tank operators, and paratroopers.

    Audience accommodation

    Increased seating capacity for spectators

Along with the new format, the Rashtrapati Bhavan has also expanded the seating capacity for spectators at the change of guard ceremony.

This will reportedly enable more attendees to experience this grand military tradition.

President Droupadi Murmu will attend the inaugural show in its new format on February 16 according to a statement by the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
