    What's the story

A significant landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, has severely damaged a crucial highway in Arunachal Pradesh.

The incident occurred on National Highway-313 between the towns of Hunli and Anini, cutting off the road link to Dibang Valley.

This has posed substantial challenges for local residents and security forces who rely on this route for transportation in the difficult terrain.

    Repair initiated

Restoration efforts underway for damaged highway

In response to the destruction, the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has begun efforts to repair the damaged sections of the highway.

Despite the disruption, there is currently no shortage of food or other essential supplies in Dibang Valley, reports said.

Arunachal Pradesh's Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his concern over the situation online, stating, "Disturbed to learn the inconvenience being caused to commuters due to the extensive damage to the highway between Hunli and Anini."

    Restoration timeline

Highway restoration expected to take three days

Khandu further stated that instructions have been issued to restore the highway's connectivity as soon as possible, given its importance in linking Dibang Valley with the rest of the country.

The local administration in Dibang Valley estimates that it will take at least three days to restore the highway.

In light of this, they have issued warnings for locals to avoid landslide-prone areas and water bodies for activities such as fishing.
