    What's the story

An interstate arms racket was unearthed in Delhi and 40 pistols recovered. Two men were also nabbed from Anand Vihar railway station while they were supplying arms to their clients.

Deepak Kumar Saha and Sajid allegedly supplied illegal firearms smuggled from Madhya Pradesh and Bihar to notorious gangs.

Saha was once caught in 2016 while he was supplying 20 illegal weapons.

    Gang

Gang had supplied 300-400 guns to criminals

Saha has been involved in similar businesses since 10-11 years. He soon became an independent contractor and had his own clients.

He also built a network of workers who would do the buying and selling.

The gang met clients in AC first-class and second-class compartments of trains to avoid security officials.

In their years of operation, they have supplied 300-400 illegal firearms to criminals.

    Information

Pistols from Bihar and MP in demand

Demand for illegal guns made in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh is high; these guns are cheaper than their legal counterparts (Rs. 50,000-70,000 per weapon), and of high quality. Police confirmed the makers were extremely proficient and it was difficult to determine the guns were imitation.

    Seizures

Third arms seizure of the month

This is the third such seizure in April. On 22nd, police nabbed Rajpal Singh from Millennium Depot near Nizamuddin Bridge, and seized 30 semi-automatic pistols along with a carbine and five live cartridges from him.

A day earlier, Taiyab was arrested from near Harkesh Nagar Bus Stand, Mathura Road, and 20 sophisticated pistols recovered from him.
