    What's the story

India has expressed its strong disapproval after a security breach during External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's visit to the United Kingdom.

A pro-Khalistan extremist had run toward the car of Jaishankar and torn the Indian national flag in front of his convoy outside Chatham House in London.

The incident was filmed and has since gone viral on the internet.

    Official statement

MEA condemns 'provocative activities' by separatists

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned the actions, calling them "provocative activities" of a "small group of separatists and extremists."

In an official statement, the MEA said, "We have seen the footage of a breach of security during the visit of EAM to the UK. We deplore the misuse of democratic freedoms by such elements."

"We expect the host government in such cases to fully live up to their diplomatic obligations."

    Diplomatic talks

Jaishankar's UK visit marked by strategic discussions

During his UK visit, which started on March 4 and will end on March 9, Jaishankar held talks with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

Their discussions included strategic coordination, political cooperation, trade negotiations, education, technology, mobility and people-to-people exchanges.

At Chatham House, Jaishankar spoke on sensitive subjects like the Kashmir issue when asked if Prime Minister Narendra Modi could utilize his friendship with US President Donald Trump to resolve the long-standing issue.

    Firm stance

Jaishankar dismisses 3rd-party mediation on Kashmir issue

He strongly ruled out any third-party mediation and defended India's actions of deploying troops in the region.

He said decisive steps had been taken, including the abrogation of Article 370 and pushing for economic development.

When a Pakistani journalist asked about Kashmir, Jaishankar made India's stance clear: "I think the part we are waiting for is the return of the stolen part of Kashmir, which is under an illegal Pakistani occupation. When that's done, I assure you, Kashmir solved."
