    Here are 8 effective Indian-style home remedies to help you deal with common cold and cough.

    Warm water, Gargles

    Drink lukewarm water; gargle frequently with salt-water

    Lukewarm water: Drink lukewarm water frequently, throughout the day. It will give you relief from cold, cough, and sore throat, by fighting inflammation in throat, and flushing toxins and infections out of the body.

    Gargling: A time-tested home remedy, gargling with warm salt-water a number of times through the day will give you relief from sore throat, cough, and common cold.

    Ginger, Spiced Tea

    Sip ginger tea, spiced tea to treat cold & cough

    Ginger Tea: Known for its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, ginger tea is great for healing cold and cough. It aids in drying running nose, thus helping eliminate phlegm from the respiratory tract.

    Spiced Tea: Add healing spices - tulsi, ginger, and black pepper - while preparing tea, as they are strong ingredients for fighting cold and cough.

    Soothing mixtures

    Try these mixtures: Lemon-Cinnamon-Honey and Honey-Lime-Water

    Lemon-Cinnamon-Honey syrup: In half-a-spoon of honey, add a couple of drops of lime juice, and a pinch of cinnamon powder. Have this syrup atleast twice a day to get relief from cold and cough.

    Honey-Lime-Water mixture: Commonly consumed for improving digestion and blood circulation, a mixture of honey and lime-juice mixed in warm water can be an equally effective treatment for cold and cough.

    Turmeric Milk, Jaggery

    Drink turmeric milk; prepare a jaggery solution

    Turmeric Milk: A popular Indian spice, turmeric has amazing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Add turmeric powder to warm milk, and drink when down with cold and cough to get relief.

    Jaggery syrup: Boil water, and add black pepper, cumin, and jaggery to it. Consume the solution when warm, to feel relief from congested chest, cough, and cold.
