DU admissions: Some colleges might reopen popular courses under third-list
What's the story
Admissions to Delhi University (DU) under the second cut-off list have filled nearly half the seats, and many popular colleges are unlikely to issue a third list for in-demand courses.
But several colleges which had shut admissions for some courses under the second list, are expected to reopen them considering a high number of withdrawals.
The third list is expected on June 30.
Second list
Nearly half of total seats filled under second list
Under the second list, which was announced on June 24, 26,300 students have been admitted into the 56,000 seats in DU colleges, said MK Pandit, Chairperson, DU Admissions Committee.
Students have till today afternoon to pay necessary fees.
Many colleges had shut admissions partially, including Rajmas (four courses closed), Daulat Ram (five) and Gargi (six).
Even off-campus colleges like Shaheed Bhagat Singh closed some courses.
Reopen
These colleges might reopen History and Political Science
Some colleges are now reopening particular courses due to high withdrawals- DU allows students to cancel admission in one college if they secure a seat in another in the next list.
Daulat Ram, which saw the fourth most withdrawals, is expected to reopen admissions into History, college officials said.
Gargi, with the third most withdrawals, is likely to reopen Political Science.

Despite withdrawals, Ramjas, Bhagat Singh refuse to reopen admissions
Others like Ramjas, which saw the highest number of withdrawals this season, and Bhagat Singh, have refused to reopen admissions. PK Khurana, Principal, Bhagat Singh, said the decision had been taken as "we had over-admissions in the first list."
Third list
General cut-offs unlikely to drop more than 0.5% in third-list
More courses are expected to shut down under the third list. Ramjas said it "may close" admissions into Chemistry, Physics and Political Science.
Daulat Ram named Economics, Sanskrit, BCom, BCom (Hons), Botany and Mathematics, while Gargi said Hindi, Sanskrit, Botany, Microbiology and Life Sciences are likely to close.
Cut-offs under the third list aren't expected to drop by more than 0.5% for general students.
