    What's the story

Wednesday brought good news for a Delhi family after they were reunited with their missing son after six long years.

The child had gone missing from North Delhi's Lahori Gate when he was just three years old.

Six years later, he was traced to a family in Punjab, that had been fostering him for the last two years.

    The incident

Boy believed to have gone missing while playing

On May 21, 2012, the boy whose family lived in slums near Pul Mithai, Pili Kothi, went missing while playing with other kids.

It was believed he might have boarded a train and gone somewhere.

Teams looked for him on every station on routes of Gorakhdham Express, Toofan Mail, Punjab Mail, Shan-a-Punjab, Howrah-Delhi Kalka Mail and Jammu Mail, but in vain.

    The foster

One family found boy travelling alone, decided to keep him

Two years ago, a resident of Bihar's Munger, Sanjay spotted the boy travelling alone in a train at Kiul Railway Station.

He inquired the kid about his family but didn't get an answer. He then informally adopted the child.

Sanjay's family returned to Kapurthala, Punjab, where he worked at a factory but never gave up on finding the kid's parents.

    The reunion

Missing poster of boy helped in reunion

Meanwhile, in Delhi, police pasted Hue and Cry posters of the child at various spots. One such poster was seen by Sanjay's 55-year-old acquaintance Minta Devi. She informed Sanjay about it, who called the Crime Branch.

"We took the boy's biological father along with us to Kapurthala. He identified his son from his facial features and a scar on his forehead," an officer said.

    Information

The child doesn't remember a lot

The minor doesn't remember anything about the first four years that he had gone missing, i.e, from 2012 to 2016. He was handed over to the parents after being produced at Child Welfare Committee. In this story, Sanjay is definitely the hero.
