Delhi-Govt. ready to pay for water-sprinkling choppers to reduce pollution
What's the story
The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP Government in Delhi has informed the Centre it is ready to bear the cost of deploying water-sprinkling choppers to curb pollution during winters.
It said it would pay for aerial water-sprinklers to bring immediate relief in the city.
Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain has written to Union Environment Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan in this regard.

Aerial water-sprinkling for containing air pollution
Delhi Minister Imran Hussain requested Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan for the use of choppers/aircraft for aerial water-sprinkling, an exercise aimed at settling the particulate matter in the air. Hussain also requested him to discuss the issue with the Civil Aviation Ministry.

Delhi's air quality enters "severe zone" post Diwali
Air pollution in Delhi has reached hazardous levels, especially after Diwali.
Even the Supreme Court's ban on the sale of firecrackers in the national capital didn't stop people from bursting them.
On 20 October, Delhi's air-quality reached "severe zone" for the first time in 2017.
However, on 21 October, the volume of air pollutants in the city markedly decreased as strong winds dispersed them.
