    What's the story

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) launched its much-awaited housing scheme linked with Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) yesterday.

It was launched by Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.

Around 12,000 flats are expected to go for sale under this scheme.

Different banks will carry out the registration and the applications can be submitted through banks or online to DDA by August 9.

Lt. Governor gives launch approval for DDA flats

Lt Governor Anil Baijal gave his approval for the launch of DDA housing scheme.

The scheme will now not have the lock-in period clause that had previously prevented the sale of these flats for 5 years.

13000 flats, of which "11671 flats will be LIG/one flat, 79 HIG, 398 MIG, 564 EHS (Expendables) and 437 Janta flats" will be up for sale.

    Information

Location and registration fee for different income groups (LIG/MIG/HIG)

The houses are located at Dwarka, Rohini, Pitampura, Paschim Vihar, Janakpuri, Vasant Kunj, Narela, Jasola, Siraspura and the registration fee is capped at "Rs 1lakh for Janta and LIG/one-bedroom units and Rs 2 lakh for MIG and HIG".

Who is eligible for these flats?

The DDA stipulation allows "any Indian citizen, 18 years of age and above" to apply.

If the applicant already owns a flat in his/his spouse/child's name then he is not eligible to apply.

In case a couple applies, in such cases, if both are allotted flats, only one can buy the property.

Buyers can expect possession of these flats by October-November 2017.

DDA assures that the flats have all facilities

Of the flats for sale, 10,000 are those that weren't occupied in the 2014 scheme.

Another 2,000 had been lying vacant.

Most of these DDA flats had been surrendered as the applicants thought they were either too small or the area underdeveloped.

However, DDA has now assured that basic amenities like roads, streetlights and water supply have now been taken care of.

    Rules

DDA introduces strict rules for refund of registration fee

DDA has laid down strict rules for registration to deter people from applying if non-serious.

If application is withdrawn before the draw, full registration fee can be refunded.

25% will be forfeited after the draw but before the issue of allotment letter.

50% will be returned if application is withdrawn within 90 days of demand letter issuance, post which no refunds would be given.
