Complaint against Mamata over 'if you burn' warning to Modi

A complaint has been lodged with the Delhi Police against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, following her comments at a Trinamool Chhatra Parishad event on Wednesday.
The complainant, Vineet Jindal, a Supreme Court lawyer, alleged that Banerjee's remarks were provocative and intended to incite unrest.
The controversy revolves around a statement made by Banerjee during the event where she reportedly warned PM Narendra Modi, "Remember, if Bengal burns, then Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Delhi will also burn."

Lawyer alleges Banerjee's statement incites regional hatred
Jindal argued that Banerjee's statement was inflammatory and could potentially incite regional hatred and enmity, thereby posing a threat to national harmony and public order.
He further argues that as a chief minister, her words carry significant weight, making the alleged remarks particularly dangerous.
"Given the instigating and provocative nature of her statement, which intends to create disharmony and foster hatred among the masses of India," Jindal stated in his complaint.

Jindal seeks FIR against Banerjee under BNS sections
In his complaint, Jindal has requested that an FIR be lodged under Sections 152, 192, 196, and 353 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Banerjee.
He describes these offenses as cognizable and serious in nature.
Banerjee had made the contentious remark after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for a 12-hour 'Bengal Bandh' on Wednesday to protest police actions against demonstrators during a march to the state secretariat a day prior.
Political backlash
Never threatened them: Banerjee
On Thursday, Banerjee refuted the allegations that she threatened doctors protesting against the alleged rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital.
"I have not uttered a single word against the (medical etc.) students or their movements. I totally support their movement. This allegation is completely false," she said.
She said that she only spoke against the BJP because, with the support of the government, they are threatening democracy in Bengal and trying to create anarchy.
