    What's the story

The CBSE is going hi-tech to check cheating. In the JEE Main scheduled on April 8, it will deploy metal detectors at centers.

This comes after students have been caught sneaking in barred electronic items into exam halls.

"Banned items include mobile phone, electronic watch and calculators," said CBSE coordinator Balvinder Singh, and metal detectors would help catch violators.

Students have gone to new heights for cheating in exams

Bizarre incidents of cheating have come to light this time. Students under the Haryana education board have been found ingeniously smuggling electronic devices into exam halls.

In Rohtak's Farmana, a Class-10 student was caught with a cellphone inside his hollow cardboard.

In Karnal, a Class-12 student hid a Bluetooth device inside his turban.

The CBSE is eager to avoid such situations in the JEE.

While the pen-paper exam will be conducted on April 8, the online mode is scheduled for April 15-16.

Mock Advanced tests to familiarize students with new format

There are some changes this time; for one, the Advanced is going completely online.

To allow students to familiarize themselves with the pattern and style, IIT Kanpur will hold mock tests between May 1 and 5.

Qualified candidates will be able to appear them in 18,000 affiliated schools across the country.

The Advanced will be held on May 20. Registrations will begin May 2.
