    What's the story

A British woman was allegedly raped at a hotel in Delhi's Mahipalpur area.

The main accused, Kailash, who had been in contact with the victim via Instagram, had reportedly invited her to India.

Police confirmed one has been arrested on rape charges and another arrested for molestation.

The British High Commission has been informed about the incident, Delhi Polce said, as per ANI.

    Police

    They met few months ago

Police officials say that Kailash, a Mayur Vihar, East Delhi resident, got in touch with the woman from London on the social networking platform a few months ago.

She had invited Kailash to join her when she was visiting Maharashtra and Goa.

Kailash, however, said he couldn't travel and instead requested her to come to Delhi.

Obliging, the woman arrived in Delhi on Tuesday and checked into a hotel in Mahipalpur.

    Event

    The trio had dinner together

Kailash and his accomplice Wasim later paid her a visit at the hotel.

Before going to her room, the trio allegedly drank alcohol and had dinner.

Once inside the room, Amar Ujala reported that Kailash allegedly forced himself on the woman without her consent.

When she resisted and caused a scene, Kailash summoned Wasim to the room to quiet her down.

    Arrests made

Israeli tourist and her homestay operator gang-raped

The incident came just days after an Israeli tourist and her homestay operator were gang-raped while stargazing along with three male travelers, an American and two Indians, in Koppal town in Karnataka.

Per initial investigation, the three men on a motorcycle approached them and asked for money. Following an argument, they forced the male travelers into a nearby water canal before sexually assaulting the women.

One of the two Indians drowned, and his body was found on Saturday.

    Tourists

    Tourists leave India after crime

Following the crime, hundreds of foreign tourists have left a UNESCO heritage site in Karnataka in the past few days, BBC reported.

Once the capital of the Hindu Vijayanagara dynasty, Hampi is known as an outdoor museum with amazing stone ruins on the banks of the Tungabhadra river.

Numerous tourists, particularly those from Israel and Europe, stay at Sanapur, which also boasts a renowned Hindu temple and towering ruins, during their visit to Hampi.
