    What's the story

The Indian Army successfully neutralized three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the Imphal East district of Manipur, a defense spokesperson said on Sunday.

The explosives were discovered on the road connecting Nongdam and Itham villages, located 46 km apart.

Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amit Shukla further revealed that these IEDs were found during a routine area-domination and surveillance operation.

    Response

Swift army action averts potential harm

Upon noticing the IEDs, the army personnel acted swiftly and cordoned off the area.

"Subsequently, a bomb disposal squad arrived at the location and defused the IEDs safely, preventing potential loss of life and injury to locals," added the spokesperson.

Manipur is yet to return to normalcy a year after clashes erupted between the valley-dominant Meiteis and the hill-dominant Kuki tribes.

Security forces continue to monitor sensitive areas where these two communities intersect, particularly near the foothills surrounding Imphal valley.

    Blasts

3 blasts damage bridge ahead of Phase 2 pollingĀ

In April, a bridge in Kangpokpi district of Manipur was damaged by three medium-intensity explosions, just two days before the second phase of polling in the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat.

Days later, two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and two others injured when armed miscreants opened fire in Bishnupur district.

The incident occurred at an Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) camp at Naransena, where the CRPF members were stationed post-election.
