An Indian Army captain was killed on Wednesday during a confrontation with four terrorists in the Assar area of Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district.
The incident also resulted in a civilian being injured.
The encounter began after the Army received information about the terrorists' hideout on Tuesday evening, leading to an intermittent exchange of fire until both sides paused.
The firing resumed on Wednesday morning.

Recovered equipment and ongoing operations
According to reports, security forces recovered a United States-made M4 assault rifle and three rucksacks filled with assorted equipment from the site.
The terrorists are believed to be sheltering in Doda's Shivgarh-Assar belt, with one of them likely injured after blood stains were discovered in the area, India Today reported, citing sources.

Security review meeting amid rising tensions
The incident coincides with a meeting chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday to review the security situation in the region.
Terrorist activity in the Jammu region has increased during the past few months.
According to a report submitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to the Lok Sabha in July, "28 people, including civilians and security personnel, were killed in 11 terror-related incidents and 24 counter-terror operations up to July 21 this year."
