    What's the story

The postmortem report of the teenage Dalit girl, whose body was found on Sunday in Aligarh, has not indicated any clear evidence of rape and found that she was strangulated to death, a senior official said.

Five persons have been picked up by the police for questioning in the case, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muniraj G told the media on Monday night.

    Quote

Villagers clashed with police after the body was found

The body of the 16-year-old girl was found in a field in the Akrabad area following which villagers clashed with police and indulged in stone-pelting. "Inspector Pranendra Kumar was injured. The post-mortem report has not indicated any clear evidence of rape," the SSP said.

    Police's actions

Further microbiological tests will be conducted

SSP Muniraj G said that in view of the inconclusive evidence the police has decided to conduct further microbiological tests using vaginal swabs. "The proceedings of the postmortem were recorded. There were multiple injury marks on the body of the victim who died due to strangulation," the SSP added.

An FIR has been registered under IPC Sections 302 (murder), 376 (rape), and POCSO Act.

    Information

Efforts on to get financial compensation for the victim's family

On Monday when the body was handed over to the family for last rites, a large group of protesters collected at the victim's house and blocked traffic on the main Agra road. The SSP said efforts are on for giving adequate compensation to the family.

    What happened?

Girl had gone to collect fodder, same as Unnao case

The Dalit girl had gone to collect fodder for the cattle at about 12 pm on Sunday. When she did not return, her family started looking and were later joined by other villagers. Her body was then found in a field.

Last month, two minor girls were found dead in a field in Unnao when they had gone to collect fodder.
