    Railways gives Prayagraj station beautiful makeover ahead of 'Kumbh Mela'

    What's the story

    Indian Railways has always strived to give a memorable experience to passengers.

    And now, for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, formerly known as Allahabad, the national transporter is leaving no stone unturned.

    To welcome the pilgrims attending the festival, the railway station of Prayagraj is being beautified and revamped with paintings of Lata Mangeshkar and other artists and musicians.

    Walls of Jhunsi railway station repainted with cultural paintings, murals

    Indian Railways is determined to give a long-lasting impression to the pilgrims attending the festival.

    The walls of the Jhunsi railway station, the nearest to the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj district, has been repainted with beautiful cultural paintings and murals.

    Apart from the stations' makeover, trains are also getting revamped with bio-toilets, new seat covers, curtains, and new taps in toilets among others.

    Technology help

    Railways will use IBM Intelligent Video Analytics for crowd control

    Indian Railways is introducing 800 Kumbh special trains. It's also making the best use of technology for Kumbh Mela.

    In a first, Indian Railways will use IBM Intelligent Video Analytics to ensure crowd control at railway stations and adjoining areas during Ardh Kumbh Mela.

    It has also launched an app, Kumbh Rail Seva, which will provide information to train users traveling to the event.

    A little about the Kumbh Mela

    Kumbh Mela is believed to be one of the largest religious gatherings on earth. It is held every 12 years on the banks of Sangam - the meeting point of the holy rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical river Saraswati, in Prayagraj.
