    What's the story

Over 2,000 government schools in Uttar Pradesh have received a notice against filming within classrooms following a viral video in which a teacher was allegedly caught sleeping in class.

The directive was issued by the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) of Aligarh.

The circular emphasized that any photos or videos of "unwell individuals" should be shared directly with the block education officer or the BSA, not circulated in the media.

    Directive details

Strict actions for non-compliance, health measures highlighted

The directive further stipulates that teachers, shiksha mitras, instructors, and students who feel unwell due to extreme heat should be immediately taken to the nearest community health center.

It sternly warns that if photos or clips related to "ill health" are disseminated despite these instructions, strict punitive action will be taken against the person responsible.

    Disciplinary actions

Teacher's suspension and filmmaker's termination follow viral videos

Dimple Bansal, the teacher caught napping at a government school in Aligarh, was suspended for "irresponsible behavior" after two videos of her were widely circulated on social media.

One video showed her purportedly napping during class while students fanned her, and another depicted her caning children with a stick.

Vijay Singh, the Shiksha mitra who filmed and uploaded these videos, was also terminated.

    Video backstory

Viral video's context clarified, teacher awaiting medical help

An investigation into the napping video was conducted, and it was found that Bansal had slipped and fallen from her chair, BSA of Aligarh, Rakesh Singh, told TOI.

He added that she was waiting for the doctor to arrive, during which time, the students tried to keep her awake by fanning her.

Bansal also said that she had fallen from the chair and became unconscious.
