    What's the story

The ever-evolving and dynamic media industry requires learned and skilled individuals to improve mass communication methods, and keep the society well informed.

While a graduate level course will help you with the basics, a PG course will truly make you ready to jump into the risky-yet-rewarding field of mass communication.

Here's our list of top 5 mass communication colleges for post-graduation in India.

    IIMC

Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication, set up in 1965, is one of the premier mass communication colleges in India.

Fully funded by the Central government, the institute looks to attain global standards in terms of media education, training, and research.

The media school offers a number of certification and PG diploma courses in Print Journalism, Advertising and PR, and Radio & TV Journalism.

    SIMC

Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune

Set up in 1990, the Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC) is a top-notch mass communication school.

Featuring state-of-the-art technology and media equipment, highly experienced and expert faculty, and impressive infrastructure, SIMC is a school that's a class apart.

Courses offered are MA (Mass Communication) and MBA (Communication Management).

However, it's quite pricey, with both courses costing over Rs. 5 lakh p.a.

    ACJ

    Asian College of Journalism, Chennai

Established in 1994 in Bangalore, then taken over and shifted to Chennai in 2000, the Asian College of Journalism is highly renowned among Indian as well as foreign students.

This premier school offers a one-year post-graduate diploma programme in Mass Communication with specializations in print, new media, television, and radio.

The institute is often lauded for its experienced faculty and great placement record.

    XIC

Xavier Institute of Communication (XIC), Mumbai

Another coveted school for media studies in the country is the Xavier Institute of Communication (XIC), an autonomous unit of the Bombay St. Xavier's College Society Trust.

The college is much sought-after, owing to its amazing infrastructure, great faculty, and professional training in production and communications.

Certification and diploma courses in Journalism and Mass Communication, Film and TV, and Advertising & PR are offered.

    Jamia

AJ Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre (AJKMCRC), Jamia Millia Islamia

Named after its founder and former chairman, Anwar Jamal Kidwai, the Mass Communication Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia is a Central government funded institute for media studies in the national capital.

AJKMCRC offers MA courses in Mass Communication, Convergent Journalism, and Development Communication, and Visual Effects & Animation. PG diploma courses are offered too.
