    What's the story

The Yash Chopra Foundation, a philanthropic wing of India's prominent studio Yash Raj Films (YRF), has launched a new scholarship program.

This initiative was announced on Friday, coinciding with the 92nd birth anniversary of its founder, the late Yash Chopra.

The program is designed to aid children of low-income Hindi film industry workers who are registered members of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).

    Program details

Scholarship will offer financial aid for various fields of study

The scholarship program will provide financial assistance of up to ₹5L per student.

This aid is intended for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in various fields such as mass communication, filmmaking, production, direction, visual arts, cinematography, and animation.

The selection process for this scholarship will include personalized interviews for candidates.

    CEO's statement

YRF CEO expressed commitment to empower Hindi film fraternity's children

Akshaye Widhani, CEO of YRF, stated that the late filmmaker Chopra always believed in giving back to the Hindi film industry in any way possible.

"His philosophy is ingrained in our company's culture. So, on his 92nd birth anniversary, we are happy to embark on a mission to empower kids of the Hindi film fraternity."

Widhani expressed hope that this initiative would inspire deserving students and help them make their mark in the film industry.

    Legacy continuation

Chopra's legacy in Indian cinema continues to inspire

Chopra, who passed away in 2012, was a trailblazer in Indian cinema. His career spanned five decades during which he directed numerous critically acclaimed and commercially successful films.

He is remembered for popularizing the multi-starrer format in Hindi films with his movie Waqt and for his romantic dramas such as Silsila, Lamhe, Kabhi Kabhie, Veer-Zaara, Dil To Pagal Hai, Chandni, and Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
