'Vicky Vidya...': Director reveals why Triptii was chosen opposite Rajkummar

Filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa recently revealed the reasoning behind his casting choice for the upcoming movie Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video.
In an interview with OTTplay, Shaandilyaa shared that he chose Triptii Dimri to star opposite Rajkummar Rao, not because of her performance in Animal (2023), but to introduce a fresh pairing to the audience.

Shaandilyaa wanted a fresh pairing for Rajkummar
Shaandilyaa said, "Before Animal, I watched Laila Majnu. Yeh tha ki I really wanted a girl jo naya pair laye Rajkummar ke saath (I really wanted a new pairing for Rajkummar)."
He added that at the time, Rao was already working with Janhvi Kapoor on Mr & Mrs Mahi and Shraddha Kapoor on Stree 2.
He also didn't want to cast Bhumi Pednekar as she was already cast in another film.
Casting process
Shaandilyaa approached producer Bhushan Kumar with Dimri's suggestion
The filmmaker further shared, "Phir zehen mein aaya, why not Triptii? (That's when I thought of Triptii Dimri.)"
He then approached producer Bhushan Kumar with the suggestion of casting Dimri.
"He immediately agreed and contacted her. She was enthusiastic about the role, and that's how she came on board," said Shaandilyaa.

'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' to release next month
The new on-screen pairing of Dimri and Rao is generating excitement among fans, who are eager to see their unique chemistry in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video.
The film, which features an engaging storyline and innovative casting, is set to hit theaters on October 11, 2024.
It will clash with Vasan Bala's Jigra, which stars Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina.
