    What's the story

Nostalgia swept over fans as Aamir Khan unveiled a new presentation of his classic song Papa Kehte Hain from his debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) on Monday evening.

The updated track, named Papa Kehte Hain 2.0, will feature in the forthcoming film Srikanth, starring Rajkummar Rao.

Udit Narayan—the original singer—was present at the event.

Reunited with Khan, Narayan evoked fond memories of their collaboration.

    Nostalgic reflection

Khan revisited his debut film 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'

During the event, Khan nostalgically revisited his debut leading film which also marked the beginning for co-star Juhi Chawla, music composer Anand Milind, and singer Narayan.

He shared his initial apprehensions about the film and how he only noticed its flaws when he first watched it with director Mansoor Khan.

"But one day it released and it was wonderful to see the journey it had. I like to believe QSQT is a milestone in Indian cinema," said Khan.

    Singer's recollection

Narayan revealed his initial hesitation to sing for Khan

Narayan also pitched in and shared his memories from that era.

Revealing his initial hesitation to sing for Khan, the 68-year-old singer added, "36 years ago they introduced me to Aamir and said that I have to sing a song for him. I was scared and I was ready to go back home if the song didn't work."

"Yeh actor hai? (Is he the actor?)," Khan humorously added that Narayan might have doubted his acting abilities.

    About the song
