    What's the story

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, renowned for movies like The Kashmir Files and The Vaccine War, has been facing a lot of backlash on social media lately.

This comes after he made a controversial statement linking the ongoing India's Got Latent controversy involving comedian Samay Raina to the plight of Kashmiri Pandits.

His tweet was criticized by netizens who disagreed with his perspective, accusing him of unnecessarily introducing a "Kashmiri Pandit" angle into the situation.

Agnihotri's controversial tweet on Raina's situation

Agnihotri took to social media to share his opinion on the Raina-Ranveer Allahbadia controversy.

He wrote, "Today, as a Kashmiri Pandit, @ReheSamay must have experienced how it feels when people who don't agree with you come to lynch you. Welcome to the club."

This was in response to Raina's earlier comment where he said he was overwhelmed with the situation and would cooperate with all agencies for fair inquiries.

    Public reaction

Netizens slammed Agnihotri for his comparison

Agnihotri's tweet went viral in no time, drawing criticism from netizens who disagreed with his comparison.

One user asked what was the need for the "Kashmiri Pandit" angle here, while another slammed him for comparing two different situations.

A third user said speaking the truth and facing abuse is different from creating indecent content and facing backlash, and these shouldn't be mixed.

Raina's response to the 'India's Got Latent' controversy

Meanwhile, amid the controversy, Raina has removed all episodes of India's Got Latent from his channel.

He said, "Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all Indias Got Latent videos from my channel."

"My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you."
