    Vicky Kaushal's 'Uri' to re-release, but only in one state

    What's the story

    Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike is all set to hit the theaters again.

    According to reports, the film, which is Aditya Dhar's directorial debut will be re-released in Maharashtra on Kargil Vijay Diwas, July 26.

    The initiative was taken by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis.

    Reportedly, the state government has ordered that the movie be showcased across 500 theaters for free on that day.

    'Uri' is based on Indian Army's 2016 surgical strike

    To note, Uri: The Surgical Strike is based on the surgical strike that was carried out by the Indian Army on September 29, 2016.

    This strike was conducted in retaliation to a terror attack at an army camp in Uri on September 18, 2016, that had killed 19 soldiers.

    The Indian Army had destroyed seven terrorist launchpads across the Line of Control back then.

    Statement

    Honored to be a part of this initiative, says producer

    "The idea of making the film was to instil a sense of pride in the hearts of every Indian and to highlight the incredible service of the armed forces for our nation."

    "I am honored to be a part of this initiative wherein Uri will be showcased across 500 theatres in the state on Kargil Vijay Diwas," producer Ronnie Screwvala told Mumbai Mirror.

    Aftermath

    'Uri' inspired several youngsters to join the Indian Army

    Meanwhile, Dhar recalled that during the shooting, the team would often discuss that if they could inspire even one person to join the army, the purpose of the movie would be served.

    And much to their contentment, post the release of the movie, the team was flooded with messages and e-mails from youngsters who got inspired to join the army and serve the nation.

    "The greatest validation for any filmmaker is to know that he inspired youngsters to think about the valor and sacrifice of our soldiers. It's a wonderful initiative by CM Fadnavis and I'm glad people will get to see Uri for free this time," Dhar stated.

    Box office

    'Uri' might affect business of Kangana Ranaut-starrer 'Judgementall Hai Kya'

    Given the massive popularity of Uri, the movie to likely to witness a grand opening again.

    Although it won't be adding on to its box office collection of Rs. 245.36 crore, it might affect the businesses of the new releases in the state.

    Kangana Ranaut's Judgementall Hai Kya and Diljit Dosanjh starrer Arjun Patiala will be hitting the theaters on July 26.
