Speaking to ETimes, Narayan dismissed the backlash, insisting that the video was merely a "manifestation of the love between my fans and I."

A Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee, Narayan questioned why would he do anything to ruin his legacy.
He claimed that his bond with fans is "deep, pure, and unbreakable."
The singer also implied that the resurfacing of the video months later was quite suspicious.

When asked about the controversy, Narayan said, "Have I done anything to bring shame to myself, my family or my country?"
He added, "Then why would I do something now at this stage of my life when I have achieved it all?"
"In fact, I am laughing as I talk to you."

Further defending his actions, Narayan said, "It is not something sleazy or secret. It is there in the public domain. My heart is pure."
He added, "If some people want to see something dirty in an act of pure affection, then I feel sorry for them."
The singer also humorously thanked his critics for making him "even more famous than I already was."
Conspiracy theory
Narayan hinted at a conspiracy to tarnish his reputation
Narayan was suspicious about the sudden emergence of the video, which he said was from a concert some months ago in the US or Canada.
He said, "There is something definitely suspicious about this."
Defiantly, the singer added, "I want to tell the mischief mongers: the harder you try to pull me down, the higher I will go."
