    What's the story

The Sands International Film Festival, held in the historic Scottish town of St Andrews, recently hosted a variety of films and industry professionals.

Among the attendees was Spider-Man actor Tom Holland.

The festival commenced with a screening of Last Call, a short film featuring Holland and Lindsay Duncan.

During the festival's first golf tournament, Holland sat down for an interview with Deadline and discussed a potential fourth Spider-Man film.

    Career Insights

'Simple answer is that I'll always want to do 'Spider-Man'...'

When asked about a potential fourth Spider-Man film, Holland expressed his enthusiasm: "The simple answer is that I'll always want to do Spider-Man films."

"I owe my life and career to Spider-Man. So the simple answer is yes."

Tom elaborated on the "more complex response," emphasizing how he and the Spider-Man team are grappling with the challenge of creating a sequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home—the third installment in his character's saga, while avoiding revisiting previously explored themes.

    Narrative challenges

'Want to make sure we're not overdoing': On protecting legacy

The 27-year-old actor also spoke about the challenges and emphasized, "We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we've cracked it, we have a legacy to protect."

"This is the first time in this process that I've been part of the creative so early. It's just a process where I'm watching and learning...Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we're not overdoing the same things."

    About the film

Refresher: About 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'

Spider-Man: No Way Home, featuring Holland alongside Zendaya, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield, debuted in December 2021, amassing a staggering $260M during its first weekend, marking the second-highest opening in domestic box office history.

The film's success propelled it to surpass the billion-dollar milestone.

Meanwhile, coming back to the Sands Film Festival, it showcased a variety of films, including the Sundance-winning documentary Smoke Sauna Sisterhood, Sometimes I Think About Dying, and the 2002 comedy Welcome to Collinwood.

    New ventures

Meanwhile, a quick look at Holland's recent, upcoming projects

Holland recently appeared in Apple TV+'s mini-series The Crowded Room alongside Amanda Seyfried, Sasha Lane, and Will Chase.

He revealed that he is currently working on several new projects: "We're figuring it out. We're at that stage where it's post-strike, so we're waiting for those scripts to come in. But I've got a few projects that I'm really excited about and scripts are coming in now and they're great."

"I read something the other day that absolutely blew my mind."
