This 'The Archies' actor will open Ed Sheeran's India concert

    What's the story

British pop sensation Ed Sheeran will soon head on a multi-city tour in India with concerts scheduled in Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Shillong, and Delhi NCR.

The first show is set to be held on Thursday at Yash Lawns in Pune.

And, excitingly, the opening act for the concert will be done by Dot., an actor from the hit Netflix film The Archies and a wonderful singer herself.

    Anticipation

Dot. expressed excitement about opening for Sheeran

Dot. took to Instagram to express her excitement for the upcoming event, writing, "Tonight's going to be awesome! So excited to open for @teddysphotos at Yash Lawns, Pune!, (sic)."

The announcement was followed by a flood of congratulatory messages and wishes from her fans.

In The Archies, Dot. (Aditi Saigal) not only starred as Ethel Muggs but also sang a few songs like Sunoh and Dhishoom Dhishoom.

    Past controversy

Dot.'s performance follows Jasleen Royal's controversial act

The choice of Dot. as the opening act for Sheeran's concert follows Jasleen Royal's brutal trolling for her performance at Coldplay's concerts recently.

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri was one of the critics of Royal, writing on X, "The audience is more sureela than these auto-tuned, Instagram-generated singers."

He asked if she would have been permitted to audition for a local singing contest without her Instagram following.

Now, it remains to be seen if Dot. can work some magic.
