    What's the story

'The Nun' was the latest offering by the 'Conjuring Franchise' that breathed fresh life into the horror genre.

For the third consecutive weekend, the movie dominated the international box office.

It has raked in a staggering $191.7 million (Rs. 1,400 crore) till now, making it the most successful movie in the horror genre.

Read to know about the movie's box office success.

'The Nun' is minting money worldwide

Even though, 'The Nun' has crossed third weekend at the box office, there are no signs of slowing down.

It has brought in a massive $35.5 million from 80 international markets.

The movie had strong openings in both Korea and France, where it made $4.6 million and $4.4 million respectively.

It had the second-best opening for a horror film in Russia, earning $4.3 million.

    Records

Breaking records, making money, the franchise business

Given its amazing box office collections, it is not surprising that 'The Nun' has been ranked as the biggest movie of the 'Conjuring Franchise' across 32 territories.

It also has the honor of being the highest grossing title, of Warner Bros., of the year in 26 territories.

These areas include Colombia, Sweden and Romania, where the movie was shot.

    Critical reception

Despite box office success, critics term it 'empty'

Despite 'The Nun' enjoying a stunning box office performance, the critics gave it a thumbs-down.

The story follows a Catholic priest and his apprentice investigating demonic activities in 1952 Romania.

What could have been a terrifying origin story of Valak, became a botched up jump-scare riddled movie.

Nonetheless, the franchise's popularity catapulted it, and we hope the box office success inspires better bone-chilling films.
