    What's the story

The Tamil film Thangalaan, starring Vikram, has made a significant impact at the box office within its first three days of release.

The movie, directed by Pa Ranjith and produced by Studio Green, has been praised for its compelling narrative and powerful performances.

Despite facing stiff competition from other releases, Thangalaan managed to rake in a substantial collection during its opening weekend.

    Box office

'Thangalaan' witnessed drop on second day, improved on third day

On its opening day, Thangalaan grossed ₹13.3 crore across all languages in India, with the Tamil version contributing ₹11.7 crore.

However, it saw a significant drop in collections on its second day, earning only ₹4.75 crore—a decline of 64.29% from the first day.

On the third day, it showed signs of recovery and collected around ₹5.75 crore (early estimates).

Its total collection now stands at ₹23.80 crore.

    Competition

'Thangalaan' faces tough competition from other releases

Thangalaan faced stiff competition from other high-profile releases during its opening weekend.

Films like Vedaa starring John Abraham and Khel Khel Mein featuring Akshay Kumar were among the major contenders vying for audience attention, as was Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao.

In the South, Mr Bachchan and Double iSmart are its biggest competitors.

The film is likely to spawn a sequel in the coming years.
