'Shabaash Mithu': What we know so far about the film?
What's the story
Shabaash Mithu, starring Taapsee Pannu, is based on the life of ace cricketer Mithali Raj, and has the actor playing the titular role.
To keep her fans excited about the film, Pannu released a new poster featuring herself recently, but the movie is yet to get any release date.

In the new poster, we see Pannu in the Indian cricket team's jersey with "Mithali" written on the back. Her rear side is facing the camera she is seen holding a bat in one hand and a helmet in the other. Her pose suggests as she has just touched a century.

Know about the cast and crew
Shabaash Mithu has been directed by National Film Award-winning helmer Srijit Mukherji (Begum Jaan). Priya Aven has written its script.
Apart from Pannu, character artist Vijay Raaz will be playing a prominent part in the story.
Amit Trivedi has composed its music, while Swanand Kirkire and Kausar Munir are the lyricists of this film.
Viacom 18 Studios and Colosceum Media have bankrolled Shabaash Mithu.

What do we know of the film's release?
Earlier, the film was to release on February 4, but its premiere was stalled due to COVID-19.
Then, makers targeted the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup, but that plan got canceled, too.
Now, it's still waiting for a new date.
Notably, this isn't the first time Pannu is essaying an athlete's character. She has done that in Saand Ki Aankh, Soorma, and Rashmi Rocket, too.

Bollywood making another female cricketer's biopic
Interestingly, Shabaash Mithu isn't the only female-centric cricket drama getting made in Bollywood.
Anushka Sharma is also doing a film on the story of former Indian national women's cricket team captain, Jhulan Goswami.
Titled Chakda Xpress, it will hit Netflix this year.
Its teaser was released in January, which did not gain much appreciation due to Sharma's look and forced attempt at Bengali accent.
