    Margot Kidder of 'Superman' series fame passes away at 69

    Margot Kidder, best known for playing Lois Lane in the 'Superman' franchise in the 1970s and 1980s, has passed away.

    The Canadian actress, 69, breathed her last on Sunday at her residence in Livingston, Montana.

    Fans have been paying their condolences to the departed soul on social media.

    The cause of her death is not known yet

    The unfortunate news of her demise was conveyed through a notice on the website of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home. However, the cause of her death was not mentioned.

    As per Margot's manager Camilla Fluxman Pines, she died peacefully in her sleep.

    She was suffering from a long-term mental illness in the past.

    Margot's illustrious career

    Margot appeared in over 70 films and did several TV shows as well. Her best works include 'The Great Waldo Pepper', 'The Amityville Horror', TV series 'The Haunting Hour' etc. She had also won an Emmy award.

    Context

    She saw several ups and downs in her life

    Margot's career took a hit in 1990 when she suffered a debilitating car accident that had left her in debt. She was confined to a wheelchair for almost two years.

    It was then that she battled mental health problems.

    She was married three times: to novelist Thomas McGuane, actor John Heard and film director Philippe de Broca.
