'Stree 2' continues box office rampage, inches closer to ₹450cr

Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's horror-comedy Stree 2 has continued its winning streak at the box office, raking in ₹8.1 crore on its 16th day of release.
The film's total domestic collection now stands at a whopping ₹441 crore, according to estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk.
The film has been performing exceptionally well, with the majority of ticket sales coming from night shows.
It is directed by Amar Kaushik.

'Stree 2' records impressive occupancy across major cities
Stree 2 had over 4,000 shows across India on its third Friday.
The film recorded an overall occupancy of 18.5% in Mumbai with 968 shows, and 18% in Delhi-NCR with 1,038 shows.
In Ahmedabad, the film had around 588 shows and witnessed an occupancy of 12.25%.
Notably, the production house, Maddock Films has stated that the film collected ₹453.6 crore net in India within its first 15 days.

'Stree 2' surpasses 'Fighter' and 'Kalki 2898 AD'
Stree 2 has also made a significant impact on the global box office.
With total collections of around ₹650 crore worldwide, it is the second biggest hit of the year, trailing only Kalki 2898 AD, which grossed over ₹1,000 crore worldwide.
In its first week, it surpassed the lifetime collection of Hrithik Roshan's Fighter, setting a new benchmark for original Hindi films.
Future prospects
'Stree 2' continues to dominate due to no major releases
Stree 2 had the second-highest second-week collection of all time, only behind Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
It outperformed films like Sunny Deol's Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, and Ranbir Kapoor's Animal.
With no major film releases this week, Stree 2 is expected to maintain its strong performance at the box office over the weekend.
Its only competition would be Emergency, slated for September 6.

'Stree 2' is part of Maddock's horror-comedy universe
Stree 2 is a sequel to the 2018 film Stree and marks another installment in Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe.
Other movies in the franchise are Bhediya and Munjya.
The film also features Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, with special cameo appearances by Akshay Kumar and Tamannaah Bhatia.
It was released on Independence Day against Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa, both of which underperformed at the box office.
