Sonam Kapoor slams RSS chief, calls him foolish

    What's the story

On Sunday, right-wing volunteer organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)'s chief Mohan Bhagwat stirred controversy, after he said that the cases of divorce are more prevalent in educated and affluent families. He argued that education and wealth bring along arrogance, which destroy families.

Now, in a sharp reaction to Bhagwat's comments, actor Sonam Kapoor has criticized him, terming the remarks as "regressive, foolish".

    Here's more.

    Details

With education and affluence comes arrogance, Bhagwat said

Bhagwat made these comments while addressing a gathering of RSS workers and their families in Ahmedabad.

He said, "Nowadays the number of divorce cases has increased a lot...The cases of divorce are more in educated and affluent families, because with education and affluence comes arrogance, as a result of which families fall apart. The society also falls apart because society is also a family."

    Reaction

Which sane man speaks like this, asked Sonam

Reacting on Bhagwat's comments, Sonam on Monday took to Twitter to call him out.

Citing a news report about Bhagwat's remarks, she wrote, "Which sane man speaks like this? Regressive foolish statements."

Users on the microblogging website remained divided over Sonam's reaction. While some came out in her support, others opined that Bhagwat was right in saying so.

    Quote

'India has no other option than a Hindu society'

At the said gathering, Bhagwat also argued that there is no alternative to a "Hindu society" in India.

"India has no option other than a Hindu society and Hindu society has no option but to behave like a family," the head of the RSS, which is the ideological mentor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was quoted as saying.

    Work

Sonam was last seen in 'The Zoya Factor'

Coming back to Sonam, the actress was last seen in The Zoya Factor (2019), a romantic comedy film based on Anuja Chauhan's 2008 novel by the same name.

The movie, also starring Dulquer Salmaan, narrated the story of a young girl, who becomes a lucky charm for Indian Cricket team during the 2010 Cricket World Cup.

Sonam has not announced her next film yet.
