    Described as "insane," she sets out on a quest for passion and excitement, hoping for more than just "normal" from her life.

    In Sister Midnight, Apte's character Uma is shown dealing with her own life expectations, monotony, and nosy neighbors.

    Set in Mumbai, Uma looks for thrill and purpose in the city's iconic spots like Marine Drive, Bandstand, and the local trains.

    This search for excitement triggers a personal rebellion in Uma, giving rise to a dark comedy.

    'Sister Midnight' directed by Karan Kandhari, premiered at Cannes

    Sister Midnight is directed by Indian filmmaker Karan Kandhari and has been screened at several film festivals across the globe. The film premiered at the prestigious Cannes Directors's Fortnight.

    The cast also features Ashok Pathak, Chhaya Kadam, and Smita Tambe along with Apte.

    Despite its international acclaim, a release date for the film in India is yet to be announced.

    It'll hit American theaters in May.
